What it's all about for me.

I guess it all began way back in late 2012. I had a desire to fly, and was seriously considering flying lessons. I thought this might be a little expensive, so the next best thing for me was a remote airplane or helicopter. I got a toy Syma helicopter for a gift and grew from that pretty quickly, by wanting to experience outdoor flight. I searched and was almost a click away from buying a large, expensive quadcopter that would no doubt perform amazingly well, but was almost a £1000 for everything I wanted it to do. I almost hit the buy it now button, but something held me back, and it eventually occurred to me that it was the cost of damage that was going to be too much for me to afford to repair. I was certain that there would be several guaranteed crashes and this was enough to make me think twice about this impulse purchase. So, eventually, I shopped around and came across the micro quad range, and immediately settled for the WLtoys v929 at only £23 including P&P. I was a little bit unsure how it could help me to advance into FPV flying; I was certain it could not lift more than it's own weight. Anyway, after a few weeks learning to fly, crashing, repairing, experimenting. I thought I could get a small spy camera and velcro it to my quad. This way, I could learn how to fly and see over the treetops just like I had wanted to in the beginning. It worked, I got myself the 808 #16 camera and (for me) filmed some very satisfying footage. Again something eventually felt lacking, and I wanted to experience the 'birds-eye' view. I didn't know what fpv was at this time, but sourced parts and began using my electronics experience to mash together a transmitter to the 808 #16 camera. I refined my creation mostly with my own thoughts, sometimes with a little forum discussion and research, but eventually, I feel I have made something wonderful enough to share with the world, and hope that they too will want to build their own fpv quadcopter. I feel that the range & ability of this is so much better than anything on the micro-market at the moment and I feel I have something to grow with, and use to develop in the future, instead of just throwing it away when or if it breaks down. I have so many ideas still to develop, and explore, but I hope with enough time, I can share them, and make them available for you all to help with your own building projects.
